Associating html files with
mozilla instead of konquerer
Rough procedure:
- Open Konqueror
- Browse to a html file
- /var/www/html/index.html
(or wherever you find convenient)
- right click on the file and
select Edit File Type...
- On the General tab
In the Application Preference Order frame select Add...
- Browse the KDE menu to
Internet --> Mozilla
- or type into the top field
/usr/bin/mozilla
- Click OK
- On the General Tab
Select Mozilla and click the Move Up
- Select the Embedding
tab
- Select Show file in Seperate
viewer
Another option instead of browsing to a html file is
- Kmenu --> Preferences
--> File Browsing --> File Associations
- Expand the Text Tree
and Select html
- Add mozilla as the
highest preferred app
- click the embedding tab and
select Use settings for text group
Notes: You may have to log out and back in to get the association
working.
KMAIL and mozilla
Regarding kmail and mozilla kmail
launches an app (I haven't checked but it may be kfmexec or kfmclient ???
) which grabs the url copies it to the tmp directory in your ~/.kde directory
and then passes that file to mozilla as a file://path/to/tmp/randomgen.0.
Mozilla has a bug at present where it can't see a file terminated by a period...
so it doesn't do much good to click on a link in kmail
A workaround is select the the http://url.to.go.to and wait for klipper to
notice it and just select open with mozilla.
