We just spent a week in Port Macquarie. The place is filled with what appear to be largely empty holiday apartment buildings. We went in an off peak period so I assume that the place must really hum when it fills up.

The beauty of Port Macquarie is the Coastline. A string of Lovely beaches stretch from the mouth of the Hastings River Southward until.. well they just keep going. My wife and I made good use of the walking tracks that criss cross Port Macquarie.

The Town itself has a Cinema and a McDonald’s complete with a sprinkling of Emo Teens. I don’t `shop’ so there was nothing really of any interest there for me. It took me 2 days to track down a news agency which could fill my need for a copy of Linux Journal.

The place could do with a borders book shop or something equally as interesting but I think the population wouldn’t be big enough to support it.

We did go to a place called Ellenborough Falls. Which claims to have a 200metre water fall. I’m skeptical because I grew up at Fitzroy Falls and I always thought it was the highest water fall in the State… I’m slowly coming to terms with the fact that my child hood home may not have the tallest water fall in the state.
