If you don’t like to open a new window (spatial mode) for each sub folder you open. Then the following change stops that behaviour and gives you the “Gnome File Browser” instead of that annoying little window (presentation mode).
Open the Gnome File Browser and then check the “Always open in browser windows” checkbox
