I am trying to move from my Ubuntu box across to Fedora 7. It’s not trivial because I have many things configured by hand on the Ubuntu box.

  • Joomla 1.0.x
  • Postfix + Dovecot + Amavisd + Squirrelmail
  • Gallery 2
  • Madman Music Manager
  • OpenVPN

I like to setup my mail server in virtual domain mode so I don’t have remote users authenticating off /etc/passwd. Everytime I do this about 6 months apart I have to completely relearn the entire setup. I think I will commit the configuration files to a repository and use them in future as it’s a night mare to try and tweak it back to just the way I like it.

I have been trying to do as much yum install as possible to avoid having a box with a heap of self compiled applications on it.
