I have Ubuntu 9.04 installed on a laptop. I installed 9.04 by doing a distribution upgrade from 7.04 to 8.04 and finally to 9.04.

I tried to run wine recently and came up against this error:

fixme:ntdll:find_reg_tz_info Can’t find matching timezone

This error seems to occur if you don’t have a correct timezone set.

The fix
Goto System ==> Administration ==> Time and Date
You may see a blank “Time zone:” field.
Unlock the “Time and Date” settings interface and select your appropriate Time zone.

Wine should no longer throw the error.
