dd if=openSUSE-11.4-KDE-LiveCD-i686.iso of=/dev/sde bs=8M
Where /dev/sde is my 4GB USB Key.
Press F10 on the HP Mini 110 to get into the BIOS as it boots and change the boot order to reflect USB as the first boot device.
And then jump through the installer hoops.
OpenSuse 11.4, once it installs automatically detects that you aren’t on speed racer hardware and disables the desktop animations.
My HP Mini 110 has 2GB RAM BTW. I’d assume it would be slower on the standard 1GB of RAM.
KDE4 is a lot more windows alike than either Ubuntu Unity or Gnome 3 Shell but a change is as good as a holiday.
The networkmanager icon was almost unseeable on the taskbar but once I clicked on what looked like a small dot and got the KDE network manager applet open it was a hop step and jump to connect up to the home WiFi. The small dot blossomed into a fan once connected.
You could also press F9 to select which device to boot from instead of going through the BIOS, especially since once you restart the computer it will boot from the HDD.
