eicar.com is a special file that is NOT malicious (if gotten from the right place) it is simply a text file with a special string inside it as follows:

It is handy if you want to test if your Anti-Virus solution is working

To obtain a copy goto https://eicar.org

wget https://secure.eicar.org/eicar.com.txt

Download the eicar.com.txt test file and rename it to eicar.com

Note: On the website it recommends that you rename it to eicar.com but I found as soon as I downloaded it SentinelOne (My AV client) found it and immediately did it’s work
